How to make your own 88 x 31 button
First of this tutorial is for Paintshop Pro, so if you've
not got Paintshop Pro the first thing to do is go and
get it, from
http://www.jasc.com, yes, I know it's a large
download but it's a fantastic program !!
Okay, let's get started. For my example here I've been
asked to make a button for a "Adam Storke" fan site.
The first thing to do is (assuming you want a photo on
your button) is get a photo for the button.
Because the button's going to be tiny it's no use trying to
get the full person on the button (because you'd never make
out who it is), so go for the face (or most of the face).
Here's the photo I chose.
In Paintshop Pro first of all open your photo, then select
"File", "New", set the width to "176" twice the finished width
of your button, set the height to "62" twice the depth of the
finished button. Make sure that the "Image Type" is set to
"16 million colors".
Click on the blue bar across the top of the photo, then select
the "selection" tool. This has a dotted rectangle on it.
Select the area of the photograph that you want to appear on
the button, here's mine with the area I want on the button
selected.
Now select "Image", then "Crop To Selection" this will remove
everything from the photo apart from the area you selected.
